History Levice Castle
Levice Castle is a historic landmark of the town, first mentioned in written records in 1318. Its grounds combine the ruins of a medieval fortress with the Renaissance Dobó Manor House, completed in 1571, and the Captain’s Building. Today, the complex houses the Tekov Museum, whose exhibitions explore the history of the castle and the region. An amphitheatre within the grounds hosts cultural events.
Nature Topoľčianky Bison Reserve
In the oak forests near Topoľčianky, you can watch European bison from a viewing platform. Since 1958, the park has helped conserve Europe’s largest land mammal. A nature trail introduces visitors to the bison and the surrounding woodland.
History Zobor Monastery
The remains of Zobor Monastery at the foot of Zobor Hill recall the lives of the Benedictine and later Camaldolese monks who lived here. The site is associated with the Zobor Charters of 1111 and 1113, among Slovakia’s oldest surviving written documents. Augmented reality recreates the former monastery church and a Camaldolese monk’s dwelling, offering a glimpse into everyday monastic life.
History Nitra Castle
The centrepiece of Nitra Castle is St Emmeram’s Cathedral, with its rich Baroque decoration and restored Gothic fresco. The Diocesan Museum explores the history of Christianity and displays treasures from the cathedral. The casemates reveal traces of prehistoric and early medieval settlement on the castle hill. During summer, the Gothic Moat hosts concerts, film screenings and other cultural events.
History Rotunda of St. George in Nitrianska Blatnica
St George’s Rotunda, known locally as Jurko, stands in the woods below Marhát Hill, above Nitrianska Blatnica. More than a thousand years old, this small church is an important example of Slovakia’s early medieval architecture. A green-marked hiking trail leads to the site, which is associated with the tradition of pilgrimages honouring St George.
History Valy Hillfort, Bojná
The Valy Hillfort archaeological site near Bojná offers an insight into Slavic life at the turn of the 10th century. Reconstructed dwellings, a clay oven, a blacksmith’s forge and a monumental entrance gate stand on the site of the original settlement. Rare finds, including a bell and gilded plaques with Christian motifs, are displayed at the Archaeological Museum of Great Moravia in Bojná.
History Roman Fort in Iža, Kelemantia
The Roman fort in Iža, on the banks of the Danube, formed part of the Roman Empire’s defensive system. A stone fort replaced an earlier camp of wood and earth at the end of the 2nd century. Its remains can now be explored in an open-air archaeological site. The site forms part of the Danube Limes, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
History Kolárovo boat mill
The boat mill in Kolárovo is a replica of a historic floating mill, built on two parallel boats moored on a former arm of the Malý Dunaj (Little Danube). It houses the Museum of Water Milling, which explores traditional methods of grinding grain using water power. An 86-metre-long covered wooden footbridge leads to the grounds.
History Gýmeš Castle
The castle ruins are located above the village of Jelenec in the Tribeč Mountains. Marked hiking trails lead to the castle from Kostoľany pod Tribečom and the Jelenec – Remitáž recreation area. According to legend, guests were welcomed with a “shovel dance”: they received four blows with a shovel before their names were entered in the guest book.
History Oponice Castle
Like many others, Oponický Castle was built in the 13th century as a guard castle for the protection of Nitra. The path to the castle is easy and can be easily managed by all ages. The marked trail leads directly from the village of Oponice.

The romantic ruin dominates one of the rocky outcrops of Považský Inovec and from the castle tower offers beautiful views of Ponitrie, the ridges of Tríbeč, Vtáčnik and Považský Inovec.
History Topoľčianky Castle
Set in an English-style park, this former summer residence welcomed the Habsburgs and later Czechoslovak presidents, including T. G. Masaryk. In its neoclassical wing, you can explore period interiors featuring historic furniture, paintings, and collections of ceramics and porcelain. A particular highlight is the preserved castle library, containing more than 14,000 volumes.
Water Vadas Thermal Resort Štúrovo
The largest thermal swimming pool in Slovakia in the town with the most sunny days in the year offers thousands of experiences all year round. The resort features eight outdoor and five indoor pools filled with thermal water with a total water surface of almost 10 thousand m2.
Water Thermal aquapark Podhájska
During the summer season there are 8 swimming pools with water attractions, water slides and sports grounds. The year-round wellness centre and the relaxation and recreation complex offer saunas, massages and a Turkish bath in addition to year-round swimming.
Water Thermal aquapark Štrand in Nové Zámky
On the outskirts of the town of Nové Zámky, a bridge over the Nitra River leads you to the large area of the Štrand summer thermal spa. On an area of 8 ha you will find 9 swimming pools. If you get tired of swimming, you can swap it for sports activities on one of the playgrounds in the swimming pool area.
Vineyards Pivnica Brhlovce
Pivnica Brhlovce (Brhlovce cellar) is an artisanal family winery located in the unique Rock dwellings in the village of Brhlovce. Artisan wine is the exact opposite of modern and cool industrial production. Therefore, the wine is made exclusively in the traditional artisanal way without the use of modern industrial oenological preparations. Craft wine is the result of the skill and experience of the winemaker.
Nature Ranč pod Babicou
The ranch is set in a pleasant environment, surrounded by forests near the village of Bojná. The biggest attraction is the mini zoo, where you will find more than 120 animals from 6 continents. Both experienced and inexperienced fishermen can relax while fishing. They will even prepare a tasty meal from your catch in the local restaurant overlooking the pond.
Nature Arboretum Mlyňany
The whole area consists of five themed parts and its own nursery where you can buy the grown trees and flowers. Part of the arboretum is also dedicated to Slovakia and the part from the entrance to the mansion is dedicated to flowers and rosemary.
Nature National Stud Farm Topoľčianky
Part of the complex is also a hipological exhibition with exhibits that will attract both the general public and professionals. Outside of Slovakia, the stud farm is mainly known for its four-oared and classical school with Lipizzaner stallions. Horses from Topoľčianky are successful not only at domestic but also foreign sport events.
