Across the nature
Even the lowland region has something to offer its visitors for spending leisure time actively.
You may not find the Tatras or the Slovak Paradise here, but you can experience the adrenaline rush of ferrying or rafting down the Hron River. The Tríbeč Mountains, which are shrouded in many secrets, will reveal their mysterious nooks and crannies, and from the peaks you can enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding area. If cycling is your hobby, you will be delighted by the numerous cycle paths across the region.
The most interesting places in the region
Zoborské vrchy

They are exceptional for the occurrence of rare and arid-loving plants and animals, as well as geological and geomorphological peculiarities.
Zubria Zvernica
In the oak forests near Topoľčany you have a unique opportunity to see the European bison - the largest European mammal, a relative of the American bison. The bison menagerie is the only place in Slovakia where you can see it. They consist of a sit or full body harness, a fall absorber with carabiners and a helmet. We also recommend using gloves and a climbing collar.

The ranch is set in a pleasant environment, surrounded by forests near the village of Bojná. The biggest attraction is the mini zoo, where you will find more than 120 animals from 6 continents. Both experienced and inexperienced fishermen can relax while fishing. They will even prepare a tasty meal from your catch in the local restaurant overlooking the pond.

Just cross the road and let the signpost lead you along the forest path to the 18-metre-high lookout tower. The view of the village of Skýcov and its surroundings from this height is truly breathtaking.
National Stud Topoľčianky
Part of the complex is also a hipological exhibition with exhibits that will attract both the general public and professionals. The route to the lookout leads from the village of Podhorany (about 800m) and thanks to good markings you will certainly not miss it. From the lookout tower you will have a beautiful view of the entire Nitra region and the Tribeč mountain range with Mount Žibrica. You can relax in the shelter with benches or use the fireplace located at the lookout.
Rudniansky waterfall
It is about 4 metres high and is formed by several streams of the Rudnianský brook. In winter it freezes and creates a beautiful cencule decoration. In 1995 it was declared a natural monument. The easiest way to reach the waterfall is to take the easy route from Uhliská or the green cycling route leading from Uhliská to Rudno nad Hronom.
Gýmeš Castle
Hiking trails lead to the castle from the village of Jedľové Kostoľany or the recreation centre Jelenec - Remitáž. There are also many cycling routes leading to the ruins. It is said that guests were welcomed to the castle by the so-called shovel dance. The guest received four blows with a shovel and only then was he entered into the guest book. Visit the castle and see if this story is true.
Nitra Castle
It was built on the site of a Slavic hillfort, the seat of the Nitra princes and the Great Moravian rulers. Today it is the seat of the Nitra bishopric. Enter the enchanting Cathedral of St. Emeram, the casemates, the Vazula Tower or discover the treasures in the Diocesan Museum. During the summer season, enjoy a movie or an open-air concert in the Gothic moat.

Adrenaline lovers will be delighted by the 83-metre-long waterslide. Beach volleyball and recreation grounds will be used by sports enthusiasts. Children will have fun on the playground and sandpit.
Kolárovo Ship Mill
It is a working replica of the water mill in Radvaň nad Dunajom, which burnt down in 1945 under mysterious circumstances. Nowadays, the building of the boat mill is used as a museum of water milling. A unique wooden bridge leads to the mill. The all-wooden colonnade pedestrian bridge is 86 m long and is one of the longest all-wooden covered bridges in Europe.
