The history of the Castle

The first written record of the castle dates from 1253, suggesting that it was built after the Mongols withdrew from the Kingdom of Hungary. The castle was built to guard an important trade route through the Tribeč Mountains.

Over the centuries, it passed through the hands of several noble families. In 1708, during an uprising against Habsburg rule, the castle was captured by imperial troops and subsequently destroyed. Today, the ruins of Hrušov Castle continue to captivate visitors with their atmosphere and offer magnificent panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.
